3 Things to Consider While Planning Travel to Stonewall Resort

Nestled deep within 1,900 acres of lush forested grounds surrounding a sparkling lake lies an idyllic retreat: Stonewall Resort. Considering the quick pace of our modern world, retreating to the sacred simplicity of Mother Earth is a welcome reprieve.

What many people don’t know, though, is that getting to Stonewall Resort takes an extra layer of planning or two. The resort is not located right off of the highway or ten minutes from the nearest airport; if it were, it wouldn’t be nearly as peaceful. Though it isn’t difficult to reach by any means, journeying to the resort is part of the experience!

Today we have three things to consider before booking ground transportation to Stonewall Resort.

Consider Which Airport You’re Flying Into

For those of you visiting from further away than road trip distance, it’s important to take a moment to consider which airport to fly into, as you have options. Below you’ll find the closest airports and their mileage from the resort:

  • North Central West Virginia Airport – 41 minutes to Stonewall
  • Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Two hours to Stonewall
  • Columbus, Ohio – 3 hours and 33 minutes to Stonewall

Naturally, the North Central airport is the closest, but the other airports are viable options as well depending on your itinerary and what you want to see and do before arriving at the resort.

Compare Prices of Uber and Taxi Companies

Getting to the resort from the airport, or any other location is an easy car ride. The length of the car ride will influence the cost of the ride, of course, and we recommend getting an idea of what it will be ahead of time. Decide which airport you’re going to use, and then call the taxi companies closest to that airport and get some quotes!

Consider Hiring a Bus Service or Renting a Vehicle

Depending on the size of your group, the duration of your stay, and what you plan on doing during your days at the resort, you may want to rent a vehicle. For larger groups, we recommend hiring a bus service to shuttle you to and from the resort from whichever airport you arrived in. For smaller groups, families, and couples, you can rent a car. If you intend to spend your days enjoying the array of resort amenities, then you may not want to rent a car as you won’t be using it much besides going to and from the airport. If that’s the case, then use the above recommendation of hiring a taxi or arranging for an Uber.
